French President Emmanuel Macron participated in a charity football match on Wednesday, April 24th, and contributed to the scoreline during the second half. The game, held at the Stade Bernard Giroux outside Paris, aimed to raise funds for a French foundation dedicated to enhancing the lives of hospitalized children and adolescents.
Former Arsenal coach Arsene Wenger led one team, while French journalist Jacques Vendroux captained the other. Vendroux’s team, which included Macron, French national team manager Didier Deschamps, 1998 world champion Robert Pires, and Ivorian legend Didier Drogba, emerged victorious with a 5-3 scoreline.
Pires netted a hat-trick in the first half, with Garcia adding a fourth goal. In the second half, Pires was fouled, leading to a penalty that Macron successfully converted. Samuel Eto’o from Cameroon and Emmanuel Adebayor from Togo were among the scorers for Wenger’s team.
The event was organized by the Varietes Club de France, a football club that brings together celebrities and former football stars. In total, €57,500 was collected for the charitable cause.
