According to Sky, the former Belgian international has already been contacted. Kompany has been managing Burnley since 2022. He initially led them to promotion to the Premier League but they were relegated again this season.

The Bavarians have recently faced numerous rejections and continue to search for a successor to Thomas Tuchel, who coached his last game for Munich in their 4-2 defeat to Hoffenheim on Saturday. Bayern had previously approached Bayer Leverkusen’s head coach, Xabi Alonso, national coach Julian Nagelsmann, and Austria’s national coach Ralf Rangnick, among others, but were always turned down.

Kompany has experience in Germany, where he played as a central defender for Hamburg from 2006 to 2008. He ended his playing career in his home country at Anderlecht, taking on a coaching role at the club before moving to England to manage Burnley. He led the team to the Premier League but failed to maintain their status in what was his second stint in British football.

Kompany was a successful player at Manchester City, winning the league title four times, and earned 89 caps for the Belgian national team. He still has a contract with Burnley until 2028.
