Manchester United forward Anthony Martial will leave the club when his contract expires at the end of June, the Frenchman announced on Monday.
Martial arrived at Old Trafford from Monaco in 2015 for a fee of €60 million and has since scored 90 goals in 317 appearances for the Red Devils. His departure had been anticipated, as the player has struggled with injuries in recent seasons and has not been part of the squad for months.
For instance, he was not included in the team for the FA Cup final, in which United defeated City 2-1 on Saturday.
“It is with great emotion that I write to you today to say goodbye. After nine incredible years at the club, it is time to turn a new page in my career,” he said on Instagram.
“You have been unwavering in your support, through good times and bad. Your passion and loyalty have been a constant source of motivation for me.”
French defender Raphael Varane had also announced his departure from United earlier in May.
