Roberto De Zerbi is poised to become Marseille’s new coach after the club announced an “agreement in principle” to replace Jean-Louis Gasset, who retired at the end of the season.
De Zerbi, who recently left Brighton after leading the club to its best-ever Premier League finish, is expected to formalize his arrival in Marseille shortly.
Since American owner Frank McCourt took over in 2016, the club has struggled with stability, changing coaches 30 times since the start of the century, the highest in France.
Despite its historic success, Marseille has not won the league since 2010.
