Carvajal will be the only Real Madrid representative in the Spanish national team

Carvajal

Gone are the days when Real Madrid and Barcelona dominated the Spanish national team. Luis de la Fuente’s list for Euro 2024 is balanced between the clubs.

Only three Real Madrid players (Carvajal, Nacho and Joselu) and four Barcelona players (Pedri, Fermín, Ferran Torres and Lamine Yamal) have been called up.

Real Madrid’s influence on the national team will diminish after Euro 2024, unless they sign new Spanish players or Fran García, Ceballos or Lucas Vázquez return to the first team.

The departures of Nacho for Al Qadsiah and Joselu for Al Gharafa, made official on 1 July, will leave Carvajal as the club’s sole representative in the national team.

In the current squad, Álvaro Morata is the only player to have played for Real Madrid and is the third-highest scorer in the history of the European Championship. Other players likely to be called up, such as Marcos Llorente, Pablo Sarabia, Marco Asensio and Kepa, started out at other clubs.
