Wojciech Szczesny announces his retirement from football

Polish goalkeeper Wojciech Szczesny, 34, has announced his retirement from Juventus. On Tuesday, he officially bid farewell to football by posting a message on social networks.

Szczesny, who ended his long spell at Juventus, also enjoyed impressive spells at Roma and Arsenal before that.

“In June 2006, I left Warsaw, my hometown, to join Arsenal with a dream: to make a living from football. Not only did I fulfil my dreams, but I went beyond what my imagination could have achieved. I played at the highest level with the best players in history, without ever feeling inferior. I’ve made lifelong friends, created unforgettable memories and met people who have had a profound impact on my life. I owe everything I have and everything I am to the beautiful game of football“, wrote Szczesny.

“But I have also given everything to football. I devoted 18 years of my life to football, every day, with no regrets. Today, although my body is always ready to rise to the challenge, my heart is not. That’s why I’ve decided to retire from professional football“, he announced.
