Paul Pogba’s brother, Mathias Pogba, along with five other men, will stand trial in an extortion case involving the World Cup winner. The prosecutor’s office announced that Mathias has been charged with attempted extortion and criminal conspiracy, though a court date has not yet been set. The group allegedly demanded $14.3 million from the French midfielder, using intimidation tactics.
The accused face charges of extortion, attempted extortion with violence, abduction, confinement, and criminal conspiracy. Paul Pogba revealed during the investigation that he had already paid around $70,000 to the group, which included his brother.
The case gained public attention in August 2022 when Mathias posted a video on social media threatening to reveal “explosive” information about his brother, agent Rafaela Pimenta, and Kylian Mbappé. Mathias was briefly detained after the incident.
Mathias Pogba, also a former soccer player, spent most of his career playing for lower-tier European teams.
