Ten Hag asks for time until the end of the season, press talk of “final” with Aston Villa

Manchester United manager Erik ten Hag called for patience until the end of the season after a dramatic 3-3 draw against FC Porto in the Europa League, with Harry Maguire saving his side with a late goal. United, who started well with goals from Marcus Rashford and Rasmus Hojlund, saw their 2-0 lead evaporate, leaving Ten Hag under even more pressure.

Under pressure due to their poor start to the season with just two wins in six Premier League games, United are 13th in the league and have drawn their first two Europa League games, sitting 21st in the 36-team table.

“Don’t judge us now, judge us at the end of the season. We will evolve and improve”, said Ten Hag, noting that he had led United to finals in the previous two seasons and won the League Cup and FA Cup, ending a six-year trophy drought.

Even with a surprise victory over Manchester City in the FA Cup final, his job could be in jeopardy, especially after the upcoming clash against Aston Villa.

Maguire, scorer of the saving goal, called for more defensive solidity after United squandered a 2-0 lead. He said that both players and manager are under pressure, but trusts in Ten Hag’s experience to deal with the difficult moment.
