Former AC Milan striker Hernán Crespo has expressed doubts about Rafael Leão’s future at the club. Crespo believes Leão is having trouble keeping up with the team’s progress.
In an interview with Gazzetta dello Sport, the former Argentine player commented on the Portuguese striker’s performances: “From the outside, it seems to me that Leão is confused. First of all, there is a mental problem and then a technical problem.”
Crespo praised Leão’s talent, acknowledging his technical and physical qualities, but stressed that he has not yet reached the maturity needed to be considered a champion. “Knowing how to dribble is not enough. Leão has received a lot of praise, perhaps too much”, Crespo noted.
Regarding Leão’s contractual situation, Crespo preferred not to speculate, but was clear: “If he continues like this, he will not be an asset for AC Milan. It’s a shame, because he has enormous potential, but he hasn’t made the leap in quality yet, neither at Milan nor with the national team.”
