Four-time NBA champion Stephen Curry of the Golden State Warriors will miss at least the next two games due to a left ankle injury, the team announced on Monday. Curry was injured at the end of the fourth quarter during the Warriors’ 104-112 defeat against the Los Angeles Clippers on Sunday.
After the game, an MRI scan revealed that there was no structural damage, but confirmed a peroneal strain in the area where the tendons connect the fibula to the ankle. Curry, a two-time NBA MVP, has averages of 18.3 points, 6.7 assists, 5.3 rebounds and 2.0 steals this season (2-1).
He is expected to miss the home games against the New Orleans Pelicans on Tuesday and Wednesday and will be re-evaluated on Friday. The team also reported that De’Anthony Melton, who left the game with a lumbar sprain, had an MRI that also showed no structural damage; he will be re-evaluated on Friday. Melton, who averages 6.3 points and 2.7 assists per game, had recurring back problems last season with the Philadelphia 76ers.
