Marquinhos appeals to Brazilians: “Don’t abandon the team”

Marquinhos makes an appeal to the fans ahead of the match against Uruguay

Experienced center-back Marquinhos, one of the leaders of the Brazilian national team, made an emotional appeal to the fans ahead of the World Cup qualifier against Uruguay. The match, to be played next Wednesday at Salvador’s Arena Fonte Nova, comes amid criticism of the team, currently in fourth place in the competition.

“Don’t abandon the Brazilian national team. It is my third World Cup cycle and I can say that all of us here wear this jersey with pride, faith, hope and dignity,” Marquinhos said last Sunday.

The player stressed the importance of maintaining hope and supported the work being done by the group. Despite the difficulties and the oscillations in the results, he guaranteed the team’s commitment to regain the fans’ trust:

Good and bad moments are part of this. We wear this jersey with dignity and we ask you not to lose hope in the national team.”

Expectations for 2025 and Neymar’s return

This will be Brazil’s last game in 2024. For next year, expectations are growing for Neymar’s return. Marquinhos commented on the star player:

“Ney, being happy and healthy, will have a big impact. He needs to regain his rhythm of play and the doors of the national team will always be open to him, whether he is playing for Santos, in Arabia or in Europe.”
