The Pierer Mobility Group, responsible for the KTM brand, announced a restructuring plan due to a serious financial crisis that has accumulated a debt of 1.5 billion euros. The company will enter insolvency proceedings in the next 90 days to try to save its operations.
More than 700 layoffs are planned, and 3,700 employees will not receive their salaries for November, December, or Christmas bonuses. Despite the difficulties, the group guaranteed the continuity of its teams in MotoGP for the next season, demonstrating commitment to the sport.
Stefan Pierer (CEO) and Gottfried Neumeister (co-CEO) reinforced the importance of this decision. “We will continue in the speed categories and committed 100%”, said Pit Beirer, KTM leader.
The factory MotoGP team will feature Brad Binder and Pedro Acosta, while Maverick Viñales and Enea Bastianini will race for Tech3. At the Dakar Rally, only three drivers will represent the brand, with Husqvarna and GasGas out of the competition.
This scenario reflects the impact of the global crisis on the mobility sector, highlighting KTM’s effort to maintain its sports operations.
