Formula 1 in Madrid: a future circuit of excellence at IFEMA

Formula 1’s long-awaited return to the Spanish capital is set for 2026, with the Madrid Grand Prix marking the start of a new era of motorsport in the region. Although the event is still two years away, preparations have already begun with a significant initial investment.

Match Hospitality, a Swiss company specialising in major sporting events, has been awarded a €400 million contract to manage the circuit’s VIP and hospitality areas. This investment will be fully funded by private capital, reinforcing the economic sustainability of the project.

The company has brought its extensive experience to bear at major events including:

  • World Cups in South Africa, Brazil, Russia and Qatar;
  • the prestigious Formula 1 British Grand Prix.

Partnering with organisations such as Atlético de Madrid and Legends has strengthened Match Hospitality’s position in the project, ensuring a world-class experience.

The circuit will be located in the IFEMA district, one of the most renowned conference centres in Madrid. According to José Vicente de los Mozos, president of IFEMA, “the project will be entirely financed by private funds, thanks to the collaboration with the best international companies”.

The contract covers the management of the VIP areas between 2026 and 2035, guaranteeing a long-term commitment to transform the Madrid Grand Prix into a world-leading event.
