Feyenoord fans will not be allowed to travel to Lille for the final group stage match of the Champions League, scheduled for January 29. The ban, effective from Monday, January 27, to Wednesday, January 29, was formalized in a decree by the Ministry of the Interior published in the Journal Officiel this Wednesday.
The movement of Feyenoord fans is “prohibited between French road, rail, port, and airport border crossings, as well as in the municipalities of Villeneuve-d’Ascq, Lezennes, and Lille (Nord), from midnight on January 27 to midnight on January 29”, wrote Minister Bruno Retailleau in the decree.
The measure was justified by the Minister of the Interior due to the “real and serious risk of clashes between the fans of the two teams” during the match, which will take place on Wednesday, January 29, at the Pierre-Mauroy Stadium.
French authorities pointed out that the travels of the Dutch club often represent a “frequent source of public disorder due to the violent behavior of certain fans or individuals who exploit their status as supporters of the team.”
