Atlanta United has officially announced the signing of Ivorian striker Emmanuel Latte Lath for $22 million (€21 million), setting a new transfer record in Major League Soccer (MLS) history. The 26-year-old player, arriving from Middlesbrough (Championship), has signed a four-season contract with the club from the state of Georgia.
The Most Expensive Transfer in MLS History
Before Latte Lath’s arrival, the league’s biggest investment was the transfer of Togolese forward Kevin Denkey to FC Cincinnati, who was signed for $16.2 million (€15.5 million) in November 2024, following his spell at Cercle Brugge in Belgium.
Latte Lath’s Impact on Atlanta United
Atlanta United’s sporting director, Chris Henderson, expressed his excitement about the striker’s arrival:
“We are thrilled with the signing of Latte Lath and look forward to welcoming him to the club and the city of Atlanta. He is a very fast striker with a great eye for goal. His ability to open up play will bring a new dimension to our attack.”
With this major move in the transfer market, Atlanta United strengthens its squad with a high-potential player ahead of the 2025 MLS season.
