Mika Biereth, the new Monaco striker ready to challenge PSG

Mika Biereth joined AS Monaco this winter from Sturm Graz and has already scored four goals in as many games. The Danish striker will look to improve his tally when he faces PSG on Friday (20:05).

Perhaps the best €13 million investment of the winter transfer window. The 21-year-old arrived quietly on January 11, but after providing an assist in his first game against Reims, he quickly won over Monaco fans. Since Wissam Ben Yedder’s departure last summer, the club had been searching for a true goal scorer, and the solution was neither Folarin Balogun, injured for the rest of the season, nor Breel Embolo, nor the young George Ilenikhena.

Biereth made his intentions clear during his unveiling: “I only care about scoring goals.” With 11 goals in 16 league games for Sturm Graz, he describes himself as an “old-school” striker: “I love scoring and finding the right position to be decisive. You won’t see spectacular goals in my YouTube highlights, but a goal is a goal, and that’s what matters.”

After a record-breaking hat-trick against Auxerre in just 8 minutes, the young forward could be Monaco’s next star. The clash against PSG will be a major test for him.
