AI reigns supreme at the 8th edition of Vivatech

Europe’s largest trade show for new technologies, held at Porte de Versailles in Paris, showcased global innovation over four days.

Africa, known for its talent pool, had a significant presence at Vivatech 2024, with a focus on Algeria positioning itself as a regional innovation hub to counter brain drain.

Sid Ali Zerrouki, Managing Director of Algeria Venture, emphasized the urgency of embracing AI, stating, “AI is not the future, it’s now!”

François Bitouzet, Vivatech Managing Director, highlighted the transformative power of technology, especially AI, leveling the playing field for countries like Africa and Europe.

Vivatech serves as a catalyst for African startups, celebrated at the Africatech Awards. Thalia psychotherapy, utilizing AI for mental well-being, was among the winners.

Wamuyu Wanjohi from Thalia expressed hopes of expanding services, especially for Africans in the diaspora.

Africanews reported a strong African presence at Vivatech 2024, underscoring Africa’s growing influence in digital innovation, with 37 countries represented.
