Liverpool defender Trent Alexander-Arnold insisted that Liverpool had a good season, despite the lackluster end to Jurgen Klopp’s last campaign in charge at Anfield.

When Liverpool won the League Cup in February, they were in contention for three more trophies. However, the Reds subsequently lost to rivals Manchester United in the FA Cup, then exited the Europa League, and faltered in the Premier League title race during a disastrous two-week spell in April.

As a result, Klopp was denied a fairytale ending to his Liverpool career, but for Alexander-Arnold, finishing third in the Premier League and securing a return to the Champions League was evidence of the club’s progress.

“It was a good season that built on the previous one. We improved as a team, fought for the title, went far, and got better. We need to take the positives and move forward, and we hope to do so again next season,” Alexander-Arnold told Liverpool’s official website.

The 25-year-old full-back, who is vying for a spot in the England squad for Euro 2024, faced personal frustrations after being sidelined for two months with a knee injury.

“Of course, it’s never good to be injured. We want to play as many games as possible and help the team, but sometimes these things happen. It was a tough period that taught me to be patient and was difficult. It only makes us stronger, and we appreciate the moments when we are fit and able to play,” he added.
