Bayern Munich are in mourning following the death of a fan during the Champions League match against Benfica, which ended in a 1-0 win for the German club.
The tragedy occurred when the fan, who was in the Südkurve section (Block 226), suffered a medical emergency and was resuscitated several times before being taken to hospital, where he sadly died en route.
In respect for the event, the fans stopped their support just three minutes after kick-off, and the club reduced its coverage of the event. Manuel Neuer, Bayern’s captain, commented that the victory was not celebrated in the dressing room because of what had happened, which was officially announced by the club with a message of regret and solidarity with the relatives.
