Real Madrid winger Vinicius Jr has the full backing of his coach, Carlo Ancelotti, despite recent criticism over his slow start to the season.
The Brazilian has faced scrutiny both in Spain and in his home country for his performances. However, Ancelotti dismissed the notion that Brazil’s struggles are linked solely to Vinicius’s form.
“The problem isn’t that Vinicius plays well for Real Madrid and not for Brazil, and that’s why Brazil isn’t performing. No. The issue goes beyond that. We’re very happy with him”, Ancelotti said.
Vinicius, who joined Real Madrid in 2018 and is under contract until 2027, has been the subject of exit rumors, especially after facing racist attacks in Spain and with the potential arrival of Kylian Mbappé, who also favors playing on the left wing.
Ancelotti downplayed these concerns, emphasizing the team’s satisfaction: “They’re training well and happy. Kylian is making progress every day, and so is Vini. Let’s not forget they started the season late and missed preseason, but they’ve played many games in a month and improved their form.”
Ancelotti made these remarks during a press conference ahead of Real Madrid’s league match against Real Sociedad.
