Carlo Ancelotti: “We have to be worried, we are not performing well”

Carlo Ancelotti, coach of Real Madrid, expressed frustration with his team’s recent performance. “We all need to focus on improving and finding the solidity we have had for a long time but are currently lacking. We’ve conceded too many goals, and that is too much for a team like ours”, he admitted.

Ancelotti voiced his concerns about the team’s display against AC Milan. “The reality is that something is missing, and the team hasn’t been able to show a good version of itself, especially in recent games. We need to solve this, the concern is normal, and the coming nights will be long”, he said.

The coach also reflected on the team’s defensive issues, emphasizing the need for improvement. “Defensively, we can’t be like we were tonight. We need to be concerned because we’re not playing well”, he added.

Regarding Fede Valverde, Ancelotti explained his decision to substitute the Uruguayan. “I took off Valverde because he wasn’t at 100%, he had a back problem. It seems he has recovered, but he wasn’t in his best physical condition”, Ancelotti clarified.

Despite ongoing criticism about team attitude and training, Ancelotti reassured that the locker room remains strong. “The locker room is healthy. There have been many criticisms regarding everything—attitude, training—but that’s the past. Regardless of what critics say, we need to accept the reality, which is that we are not performing well. We want to do better because it’s very hard to finish the season like this.”

Ancelotti concluded with a message of unity: “We need to take a step forward together. The team is very compact, and we are suffering a lot right now. It’s good to suffer, because when you suffer, you unite more, and that will help us get out of this bad moment as quickly as possible.”
