The Cleveland Cavaliers reached a historic milestone when they became the fourth NBA team to start a season with 15 consecutive victories on Sunday, following a convincing 128-114 victory over the Charlotte Hornets. Even without Donovan Mitchell, the Cavs equaled historic records held by the Washington Capitols (1948/49) and Houston Rockets (1993/94). Only the Golden State Warriors, with a record start of 24 victories in 2015/16, are ahead of this feat.
Furthermore, the Cavaliers surpassed their own record for consecutive wins at any stage of the season, which was 13, achieved in the years when LeBron James was part of the team (2009, 2010 and 2017).
In the game, the collective performance shined with Darius Garland (25 points, 12 assists), Ty Jerome (24 points, 8 assists), Evan Mobley (23 points, 11 rebounds) and Jarrett Allen (21 points, 15 rebounds). For the Hornets, Lamelo Ball stood out with 31 points and 12 assists.
The Cavaliers lead the Eastern Conference at 15-0, followed by the Boston Celtics (11-3). On Tuesday, they will face the Celtics in Boston, a matchup between the best in the conference.
