China and 26 African countries have committed to enhancing partnerships and driving innovation in the digital sector.
On July 29, the Chinese Ministry of Industry and Information Technology hosted the Forum on China-Africa Digital Cooperation in Beijing, bringing together participants from across Africa.
Senegal’s telecommunications minister expressed optimism about the upcoming changes over the next three years, emphasizing the mutual benefits of this cooperation. “This digital partnership between China and Africa is a win-win, bringing advantages to both our nations and the continent as a whole through the establishment of innovative infrastructures,” said Alioune Sall.
The forum concluded with the issuance of an action plan that includes launching 10 digital transformation demonstration projects and training at least 1,000 professionals in the digital sector.
This initiative seeks to enhance cooperation in digital policy, infrastructure, advanced innovation, digital transformation, security, and talent development over the next three years.
Recently, China has entered into several digital cooperation agreements with African governments. The China Academy of ICTs reported that Chinese firms are helping to strengthen network infrastructures across Africa, benefiting over 900 million people, including through the deployment of undersea cables and the establishment of data centers.
