France’s coach, Didier Deschamps, addressed the media regarding the recent reports linking Kylian Mbappé to a rape accusation in Sweden. Deschamps highlighted the need for caution amidst the spread of misinformation, stressing the importance of distinguishing between facts and rumors.
He stated, “We must differentiate between what’s true and what’s false. Some of it is news, but much of it is fake news. This is not good for the French team.“
The controversy began after Swedish newspaper Aftonbladet reported that Mbappé was linked to an alleged rape in Stockholm during a recent visit. A complaint was reportedly filed with local police, but Mbappé has denied the allegations, calling them baseless.
Mbappé, who missed France’s Nations League matches last week, was reportedly in Stockholm, where he visited a nightclub. Deschamps distanced the national team from the rumors, expressing concern about the negative atmosphere created by such claims.
The investigation is ongoing, with Mbappé’s team awaiting further updates.
