Donald Trump Pledges Support for the 2028 Los Angeles Olympic Games

President-elect Donald Trump has expressed his commitment to making the 2028 Los Angeles Olympic Games “the greatest in history,” despite the challenges posed by recent wildfires affecting the city.

Meeting with Casey Wasserman

On Wednesday, Trump met with Casey Wasserman, chairman of the organizing committee for the 2028 Los Angeles Olympic and Paralympic Games, at his Mar-a-Lago residence in Florida, as reported by Axios. During the meeting, Trump stated:
“These are America’s Games. They are more important than ever for Los Angeles, and I will give my full support to ensure they are the greatest in history.”

California Wildfires and Organizational Concerns

Los Angeles is facing a severe crisis: for ten days, devastating wildfires have caused at least 24 fatalities, destroyed over 12,000 buildings, and resulted in damage estimated in the tens of billions of dollars. Although none of the planned Olympic venues were affected, the disaster has raised concerns about the city’s ability to ensure a secure organization.

Wasserman’s Comments

Casey Wasserman welcomed Trump’s support, emphasizing the importance of this backing during a difficult time:
“I appreciate President-elect Trump’s support for Los Angeles amidst the devastation that has struck our region.”

With the commitment of local authorities and the support of national leadership, Los Angeles aims to showcase its resilience to the world and deliver a memorable event.
