After finishing sixth in the Premier League and narrowly missing out on a place in European competitions, Chelsea parted ways with manager Mauricio Pochettino, who was at Stamford Bridge for just one season. The 44-year-old Italian, Enzo Maresca, has emerged as the leading candidate to succeed Pochettino at the London club.

“Maresca has already said yes to Chelsea’s project”
According to information published by journalist Fabrizio Romano, Maresca has already agreed to sign with Chelsea, but the final offer is still pending from the London side.

“Chelsea and Enzo Maresca are close to reaching an agreement on the contract terms. A two-year contract with an option for an additional year or a three-year contract, this is the last detail to be clarified. Maresca has already said yes to Chelsea’s project; now it is up to the clubs to agree on the compensation,” read a post by Fabrizio Romano.

Maresca is the Championship champion with Leicester, having led the Foxes to promotion to the Premier League after just one season in the second tier. The Italian has been the head coach of Leicester since July 2023 and won his first trophy as a manager.

Maresca could thus return to the Premier League as a head coach after serving as an assistant to Pep Guardiola at Manchester City in the 2022/2023 season.
