Vincent Kompany, Bayern Munich coach, was on the radar of three Premier League clubs before accepting the Bavarian club’s offer.
The former Belgium international saw his Burnley team relegated from the Premier League last season. However, he is now at one of Europe’s top clubs, replacing Thomas Tuchel in Bavaria.
In an interview with Belgian newspaper La Derniere Heure, Pierre Kompany spoke about his son’s transfer to Bayern.
He said: “It was a surprise for the whole world. Well, not for me. If you look at the teams that have already knocked on the door: last year we had Tottenham and Chelsea, now Brighton have shown interest and Chelsea again.” .
“But when Bayern, a club so well structured at all levels, comes knocking on the door, you can’t refuse”, he concluded.
