Barcelona coach Hansi Flick was calm after his side’s 2-1 defeat by Monaco in their Champions League opener. Eric Garcia’s dismissal in the 11th minute proved decisive, allowing Monaco to win with goals from Akliouche and Ilenikhena.
Flick, who was on a five-game winning streak in LaLiga, said that despite the result, he saw positives: “We tried to play as a team, we had chances, but they deserved to win.” The coach motivated the players to focus on the next game against Villarreal.
Flick denied that Barcelona are struggling in the Champions League and is confident of good results, pointing out that there are still seven games to go. Barcelona host Young Boys in the next round.
