It’s now official: Football Manager 2025 will not be released. Announced in September 2024 and initially postponed to March 2025, the game has been officially canceled by Sports Interactive, which broke its silence today.
After months of uncertainty, the studio confirmed that internal issues led to the game’s cancellation, following the initial delay. Frustrated fans, left in the dark for months, finally received an explanation through an official statement:
“Sports Interactive regrets to inform that, after extensive discussions with SEGA, we have made the difficult decision to cancel Football Manager 25 and shift our focus to the next release.”
The company acknowledged the delayed communication, citing legal and financial constraints. Despite several improvements, including a new game engine and the introduction of women’s football, these updates were deemed insufficient for FM25’s release.
This legendary management series, first launched as Championship Manager in 1992 and rebranded as Football Manager in 2005, now looks ahead to its future projects.
