Liverpool’s clinical performance against West Ham United was praised by coach Arne Slot

The Dutch coach spoke after seeing his team beat the Hammers 5-0 away on Sunday. The result sees the Reds consolidate their top spot in the Premier League, eight points clear of second.

‘Maybe we’ve improved a bit, but we haven’t made a huge leap. What has changed is our efficiency. There have been games where we could have scored a lot more goals, but we didn’t because of a few missed chances. Today, for example, we were already 3-0 up at half-time, and in the first 10-15 minutes of the second half we could easily have scored three more with the quality we have’, said Slot.

‘In recent weeks, when the opposition had a chance, it often ended in a goal. Today, they hit the bar and the post, which is positive. That’s normal over the course of a season: sometimes you waste opportunities, and sometimes the opposition need several chances to score. This win, however, was clear from the start, a rare sensation for us this year, with the possible exception of the 6-3 win over Tottenham’, he added.

Slot also praised Mohamed Salah, who set a new Premier League record with eight consecutive games in which he scored a goal and provided an assist.

‘Mo and the word ‘extraordinary’ have become almost synonymous over the last six months. He deserves it”
