Javier Mascherano, head coach of Inter Miami, has expressed his desire to strengthen the team in order to support Lionel Messi for the upcoming Major League Soccer season. However, the Argentine has categorically ruled out the possibility of Neymar joining the team, calling it “impossible” due to the current salary rules of MLS.
The “MSN” Trio Rumors
Rumors about a potential reunion of the famous “MSN” trio from Barcelona – Messi, Suarez, and Neymar – have resurfaced in recent days. Neymar, currently under contract with Al-Hilal in Saudi Arabia, commented on the possibility during an interview with CNN: “Playing again with Messi and Suarez would be incredible. We are friends, we still talk often. Football is full of surprises, but right now I am happy at Al-Hilal.”
Mascherano Tempering Expectations
Despite the excitement from fans, Mascherano reiterated that Inter Miami is not in a position to offer Neymar a “Designated Player” contract similar to Messi’s: “Neymar is an extraordinary player, every team would want him. But we know the salary rules of MLS, so it’s impossible to think about it right now.”
Suarez: “Anything Can Happen, But It’s Complicated”
Luis Suarez, Messi’s teammate at Inter Miami, also commented on the idea of the trio’s return: “Everyone knows Neymar’s value as a player. It would be fantastic to have him back with us, but we are in a different phase of our careers. Anything is possible in football, but it’s difficult to turn these expectations into reality.”
Mascherano’s Transfer Goals
After a surprising elimination against Atlanta in the playoffs, Inter Miami has sold several defenders, and Mascherano is focusing on reinforcements for the defense. “We’ve had several departures due to loan expirations, sales, and missed renewals. We’re working to finalize some moves, and I’m confident that in the coming days we will complete the required reinforcements.” The main goal is to form a competitive squad in time for the start of pre-season preparation.
