Matheus Nunes on Manchester City’s moment: ‘There’s no magic, it’s football’

Manchester City’s Portuguese midfielder Matheus Nunes has stressed the importance of hard work in overcoming the team’s current difficulties. After a 3-0 win over Nottingham Forest in midweek, Pep Guardiola’s men drew 2-2 with Crystal Palace, complicating their chances of winning the title this season. With just one win in their last five matches, Nunes believes the solution lies not in a change of tactics, but in maintaining concentration and commitment.

‘There’s no magic. It’s football. We have to keep doing what we’ve been doing. We didn’t get the results we wanted, but we played well in most games. We could have won some games, so I don’t see the need for any radical changes. The important thing is to move forward and score as many points as possible’, he said.

Despite the draw, Nunes praised the team’s overall performance and was optimistic.

‘We wanted to win, but unfortunately we didn’t manage it. We created chances, we controlled the game, but we were ineffective. We have to keep playing like that and try to improve every week. That’s how we’ll find our form’, he concluded.
