Chancel Mbemba, the Congolese defender, has rejoined Olympique de Marseille’s professional squad for the first time since his suspension in mid-July. The club made the announcement through a video shared on its social media platforms.
After spending the summer on the sidelines, Mbemba is now back with the team. He recently returned from international duty, where he captained DR Congo to two victories over Tanzania. Upon his return, he reconnected with some of his former teammates and was introduced to several new players at OM.
During a press conference on Friday, OM coach Roberto De Zerbi commented on Mbemba’s situation, advising that no miracles should be expected. The decision to reintegrate him seems more symbolic than a strategic move, suggesting that the club may not rely heavily on Mbemba for the remainder of the season. As a result, the defender’s long-term future with the club remains uncertain.
