Red Bull Racing has officially announced 22-year-old New Zealander Liam Lawson as Max Verstappen’s new team-mate. Lawson, who replaces Checo Perez, joined the Austrian team in 2019 and made his Formula 1 debut for Alpha Tauri at the 2023 Dutch Grand Prix.

‘I’m excited to be working alongside Max and learning from a world champion.’

Christian Horner, Director and CEO of Red Bull Racing, also stressed the importance of the driver:

‘Liam’s performances during his two stints with the Visa Cash App Racing Bulls team have shown that he is more than capable of achieving good results. His arrival reinforces our team’s tradition of promoting talent from the Red Bull Junior programme, such as Sebastian Vettel and Max Verstappen.’

Lawson’s appointment reaffirms Red Bull’s commitment to developing young talent and keeping it at the highest level of motorsport.
