Former player and businessman Ronaldo Fenômeno has revealed ambitious plans: to run for president of the Brazilian Football Confederation (CBF) and, if elected, to bring Pep Guardiola to lead the Brazilian National Team. The information was released by the Catalan newspaper Sport and confirmed by the Brazilian portal Lance!.
After selling his stake in Cruzeiro’s SAF to Pedro Lourenço, Ronaldo is seeking new challenges. The current CBF president, Ednaldo Rodrigues, has a term of office until 2026, but elections will take place next year, and Ednaldo intends to run again. Ronaldo, an icon of world football, has an extensive network of contacts in the business, social and political spheres, in addition to his charisma and historical legacy, to boost his candidacy.
Among Ronaldo’s goals for the CBF is the hiring of Pep Guardiola, a multiple champion with Manchester City and admired on the global stage. However, Guardiola recently reaffirmed his focus on City’s current situation, which is facing challenges this season.
Ronaldo had already expressed his desire to lead the CBF in 2012. As a former director of Cruzeiro and current owner of Real Valladolid, Ronaldo has accumulated experience and prestige behind the scenes in football, strengthening his image as a potential candidate for the presidency.
