Ruud Van Nistelrooy leaves Manchester United after Ruben Amorim arrives

Ruud van Nistelrooy is leaving Manchester United after a brief spell as manager. The former Netherlands forward will not continue under new manager Ruben Amorim.

Van Nistelrooy joined the team to support his compatriot Erik ten Hag in the summer ahead of the start of the 2024/25 season. However, following Ten Hag’s departure, Van Nistelrooy took over as interim manager, leading the club for the last four games.

In a statement, Manchester United expressed their gratitude for Van Nistelrooy’s contribution, reaffirming his enduring place as a club legend. The statement also confirmed the departures of assistant managers Rene Hake, Jelle ten Rouwelaar and Pieter Morel.

“Manchester United can confirm that Ruud van Nistelrooy has left the club. He has taken on interim leadership over the last few weeks and we thank him for his dedication and spirit throughout his time with us“, the club said.

“He will always be welcome at Old Trafford, along with Rene Hake, Jelle ten Rouwelaar and Pieter Morel, and we wish them all the best for the future.”

The full structure of the coaching staff will be announced shortly, the club said.
