Sean “Diddy” Combs will remain in jail after a federal judge rejected his request to await trial in his Florida mansion. U.S. District Judge Andrew L. Carter denied Combs’ $50 million bail proposal, citing concerns for public safety and witness tampering.
Combs’ legal team had offered strict conditions, including GPS monitoring and limited visitors, but Carter agreed with prosecutors that no set of conditions could prevent potential harm to witnesses. This marks the second failed attempt to secure Combs’ release from the Brooklyn Metropolitan Detention Center, where he’s held since pleading not guilty to charges of sex trafficking and abuse.
Combs is accused of using his influence to coerce women and sex workers into drugged, elaborate sexual performances he arranged, participated in, and recorded. The indictment alleges years of abuse, blackmail, and violent acts, including kidnapping and arson, to silence victims.
