The European Football Championship in Germany will be Cristiano Ronaldo’s last major tournament, according to Sir Alex Ferguson.
The former Manchester United manager told Sport Bild that he “cannot imagine” Ronaldo playing in the 2026 World Cup, when he will be 41, due to the increasing speed and athleticism of football.
Ronaldo has announced that Euro 2024 will be his last European Championship, although his future at the World Cup remains open.
Ferguson, who brought Ronaldo to Manchester United in 2003 before he joined Real Madrid, believes that more titles would mean little to the player, who has already had a unique career and is “one of the greatest footballers of all time”.
