Legendary Manchester United manager Sir Alex Ferguson, now 82, has revealed in a rare interview that he misses the Red Devils and the big games. Ferguson retired at the end of the 2012/13 season after leading United to their 13th Premier League title in 27 years in charge.
In his first major interview in years, with BBC Breakfast, he spoke about life after retirement: “Yes, I’ve been retired for 11 years, so you have to find a way to adapt. Sometimes I miss (being a manager)”, said the Scot.
Ferguson recalled his first year out of soccer, when he attended the Champions League final and told his wife Cathy: “That’s what I miss – the big games, the European games.” Since then, he has been present at almost every European final, saying that these are the events United should always be at.
Although the Red Devils haven’t reached the Champions League finals recently, Ferguson remains a constant presence at the club’s games. At Old Trafford, a stand was named in his honor in 2011.
