France were optimistic as they practiced at the Allianz Arena in Munich on Monday, ahead of their Euro 2024 semi-final against Spain on Tuesday.
Responding to rumors about Kylian Mbappé’s form, Spanish midfielder Rodri dismissed them, stating, “I don’t trust what people say. I know the kind of player he is. He can make a difference easily.”
Mbappé has been frustrated with a face mask hindering his vision due to a nose injury. Rodri acknowledged Mbappé’s potential to be a constant threat.
Antoine Griezmann also faces criticism for his performance, having been left out of the starting lineup against Poland. However, Adrien Rabiot expressed confidence in both Mbappé and Griezmann’s ability to change the game.
France narrowly defeated Portugal 5-3 on penalties after a 0-0 draw, while Spain won 2-1 against Germany with a last-minute goal in extra time. Despite offensive struggles, France’s defense has been strong, conceding just one goal in the tournament.
Monday marked Didier Deschamps’ 12-year anniversary as France’s coach, celebrating by leading the team to their fourth major final in eight years. The new official match ball for the semi-finals and final was also unveiled in Berlin.
