Tiger Woods maintains his passion for competing and is determined to regain his fitness for 2024. The legendary golfer spoke on Tuesday during the Hero World Challenge in the Bahamas about his plans after facing yet another season-ending injury.
Woods hasn’t played since July and underwent surgery in September to treat a pinched nerve in his lower back. “This year was tough, I wasn’t as sharp as I needed to be and I didn’t play enough in the major tournaments”, he said. He highlighted his disappointment at not being able to compete well in the PGA Championship and the US Open, as well as withdrawing from the Genesis Invitational due to health problems.
Despite the difficulties, Woods said: “The fire to compete is still burning. I’m working on being physically stronger next year”. His recovery has been challenging, especially due to his age and the slow regeneration of his body, but he is optimistic.
Woods also commented on the negotiations between the PGA Tour and LIV Golf to unify the sport. “It’s an active process, with many challenges, but I believe we can achieve a better product for the fans and players”, he concluded.
