The Dutch players at Liverpool are eagerly anticipating the arrival of their compatriot Arne Slot as the new coach for the upcoming season, with captain Virgil van Dijk determined to stay at Anfield.
Van Dijk mentioned that he has already spoken with Slot and is looking forward to the next season and working with the former Feyenoord coach, who replaces Jurgen Klopp.
“I am under contract for one more year. I am the club captain and have made it clear that I am available for the new coach and am excited about the next season,” Van Dijk said last Monday, as the Netherlands national team began their training camp in preparation for the European Championship.
“Of course, there will be many changes, but I am confident that we will achieve great success. Naturally, I congratulated him and am very happy for him and his family. We talked about the team and the future, but now I am completely focused on the national team,” he added.
Ryan Gravenberch stated that Slot has proven his worth at Feyenoord, where he won the national title last season and the cup this season.
“I think he can be good for my career; he is a coach who wants to play beautiful football,” said the midfielder, who transferred from Bayern Munich last August.
Slot was appointed as Liverpool’s coach last week after Klopp left the club following nine years of loyal service.
