Dutchman Max Verstappen, 26, is on the verge of joining the select group of drivers with four Formula 1 titles if he achieves the necessary results at the Las Vegas Grand Prix this Saturday in the United States. This group includes legends such as Juan Manuel Fangio (five titles), Alain Prost (four), Sebastian Vettel (four), Michael Schumacher (seven) and Lewis Hamilton (seven).
Current scenario
In his first chance to win a fourth consecutive championship, Verstappen arrives in Las Vegas with a 62-point lead over McLaren’s Lando Norris. With just two races remaining (Qatar and Abu Dhabi), he needs just two points more than Norris to consolidate the title and become the sixth driver with at least four championships.
Combinations for Verstappen to secure the title:
- Finish ahead of Norris.
- Norris is 2nd (18 points) and Verstappen is 3rd with the fastest lap (15 + 1 = 16 points).
- Norris is 3rd (15 points) and Verstappen is 4th with the fastest lap (12 + 1 = 13 points).
- Norris finishes between 4th and 8th, with Verstappen just behind.
- Norris finishing below 8th without the fastest lap.
- With a big lead, Verstappen can seal his place in F1 history in Las Vegas.
